Sin City Video

When it comes to porn directors nowadays, there are basically two kinds, mediocre and bad. There are only a few, a very few, directors today that can hold a candle to the talent and imagination of the porn directors of the 70's and early 80's. One such director is Kris Kramski. He has directed many movies and won many awards for such films as Models and Cape Sin. Like the great directors of yesteryear, Kris believes in having well crafted stories that add a lot to the sex. The sex is just a part of the whole scene and actually the whole movie is built together, so that the sex doesn't work as well with out the story and the story doesn't work as well without the sex, but they can both stand on their own. That's what true porn is all about. It is an art form, or at least should be. Kris was nice enough to answer a few question for us about his life, and the state of porn movies and directors today. Kris is a very straight forward and honest person with very strong opinions, and I really like that about him. -Piston Rod

Kris KramskiUtU: Please give us a little bit of your background. How did you get into directing porn movies?

Kris: As far as my background is concerned, my mother had the very first model agency in Milan in the 60's. She sold her agency in 1967 to Riccardo Guy. My uncle, Franco Sheickenbauer was also a successful fashion photographer in Italy around that time. So since I was a kid, I was surrounded by beautiful models. I started experimenting with a camera at the age of 15. 2 years later, I opened up a little studio in Paris, where I lived at the time, and I was shooting tests for models. At the age of 19, I moved to London. There, after a year or so spent as a photographer's assistant and talent scout for Storm Model agency, I started to work for myself. I worked as a fashion photographer in London for about 5 years. My "English" clients often complained that my photos were too sexy. After a while, being tired of hearing this constant objection, I knocked on the door of the offices of the British Penthouse Magazine.

Models

Although I had never shot a naked girl before, I was hired on the spot. I shot for them for about 1 year. My girlfriend at the time who was a Penthouse pet of the Month was American. She wanted to return back to the states. I was shooting nude layouts for other magazines as well and I figured that I would be able to do the same in the US as well. We moved to Los Angeles, but my start there was a little tough as I had to rebuilt my client base. Eventually, I did well and ended up shooting for all the men's publications in the states (under different names) including Penthouse US. But at the start, to make ends meet, I was forced to take on a few assignments as a still photographer on porno movie sets. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism, originality and talent of the porno people. So, being French, I opened my big mouth and told them they suck. One of my clients, one day, handed me a check and said "If you think you're so much better than everyone else, why don't you shoot something for us..." and I shot SexHibition 1.

Models CoverYou are, by far, one of my favorite directors working today. I have only had the chance to see, your movie Models, but with that one film I was able to see that you are a director built in the old school mold of directing. How do you feel the porn movies of the late 70's and early 80' are different from most of the porn movies made within the last 10 years?

Today, 99% of the porn directors in the States are reconverted porno actors. Aside from a few rare exceptions, these people are totally incompetents and it shows on the screen. Furthermore, in the 70's, movies were shot on film. It was more expensive then. So the responsibility was turned over to somehow more competent and experienced people. Now, any schmuck with a video camera and a few thousand dollars can call himself a director.

Your style remind me a lot of director Cecil Howard (Neon Nights, Babylon Pink, Platinum Paradise), a director that definitely tried to put a good story in each of his porn movies, created great characters, and created eroticism not only form sex itself, but from the story and the situations that the characters were in. How do compare yourself to Cecil's style of directing porn?

I don't know this guy. My knowledge of the history of pornography is actually very limited. Could you send me some of his films? I'd love to see them.

Sure! I will send them to you, and perhaps you could write a review of each film from your own perspective! I will get them out to you as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Which is the favorite movie that you have made so far?

I love all of them in general; they all have qualities and drawbacks. It's hard to say.

Who is your favorite actress that you have worked with? Favorite actor?

Favorite actor? James Bonn who plays the role of the Photographer in Models; very talented guy... but he's not easy to work with. As far as a favorite actress, I love a few of them but I haven't found the ideal girl yet. Beautiful, intelligent, great with sex but also sensitive and trained as an actress. Some come close; but I am still waiting for the one who will meet all these criteria.

Models

I really respect your decision to only use woman in your films with real breasts. I love real breasts. How did you come to this decision? Did you receive a lot of opposition or negative press for this decision?

I don't give a shit about opposition. I love the press because they publicize me but I wouldn't change my style for them or anyone else. In general, fake tits look bad. They are also an insult to intelligence. Whether a woman is dressed or naked, I can usually tell in a snap. Who do they think they're fooling? I love women for what they are. If I love a woman and she has small tits, that's fine by me. Some guys fuck blow up dolls and get off on it. Fake tits are along the same line. Be sexy; be yourself... no need for silicone, babe! Plus it's a pain if you wanna sleep on your stomach...

What was your main goal with the movie Models? What were you trying to achieve? Did you accomplish what you wanted to?

I wanted to somehow de-mystify the world of glamorous porno. Guys with big dicks who keep it up all the time are scarce. Girls are rarely ALWAYS turned on. At least, half of the porno stuff is fake; and it's usually a struggle. It's not such a glamorous life. In fact sometimes it's pretty gross. I think that the movie puts this point across.

Even though I absolutely love Models, I have two main critiques about the film, tThe first thing that bothers me about the film at times is your decision to break away from potential sex scenes. For example, there is a scene where the make-up artist is trying to get the photographer to fuck her and she starts masturbating in front of him. I think it would have been a much bigger turn-on to see her cum and then cut from the scene, but you decided to have the photographer yell at her to stop and get to work. There are other circumstances when this "breaking away" also happens. - Why was the decision to "break-away from potential sex scenes made?

I have to. I feed onto the American hypocrisy. The American audience wants to see sex on film but too many viewers are too hypocritical to admit it. They need a "real movie". That gives them an excuse to watch. That's what keeps me in business. If someone wants to watch a porno film just for the thrill of it and to masturbate, one can just watch some of those sleazy all sex gonzo tapes. Nobody needs a story. So the people who like my films are either artists themselves, intellectuals or just hypocrites. If I was to fill my film with sex 100% of the time, I would be in a different genre.

When creating a film do you keep in mind the viewer of the movie that will eventually be watching the film and jerking-off to it? Sometimes in the movie it seems that you forget this fact and try to be too artistic, how do you respond to this?

Cape Sin
A Scene From Cape Sin

I never forget this fact; but I have to integrate other elements in my films too. If your only motivation is too jerk off, rent videos from a company called "Homegrown". They have a good line of amateur sex. No bullshit, the real stuff; straight to the point.

At the end of the scene where the woman puts a plunger up her ass to cum, why was the decision made to have her vomit at the end? - I must say that really turned me off. The last thing I want to see while I'm jerking off is a woman vomiting. That part really turned me off. How do you feel about that opinion? Was that given any thought while you were filming the scene?

Hey, get real brother! Mickey Mouse fans and reconverted Boy Scouts aren't supposed to watch porno movies!! Anal stinks, you know... if you go deep enough, it hits the crap in the bowels and it smells. Well, Nancy took it 18 inches up her ass and it stunk up the studio. Then she threw up and I did too. Sorry, next time I will cut it out as not to offend sensitive hearts like yours. What do you want man? Real is real, right?

I stand corrected!!

Thank you!

18 inches!! Wow! Was that the actual length of the plunger or was the one she initially had longer?

The plunger was 18 inches. She took it all in.

Was the vomit in the film her actually throwing up or was that staged?

It was real.

It seems that directors have forgotten how to make a quality porn movie anymore. They have forgotten that it's important to create good characters and have the actors and actresses stay in character during the sex scene. Most of the time the dialogue is just used to break up sex scenes...

Cape Sin Cover You are absolutely right. I have nothing to add to your statement.

What do you feel can be done to begin the return to making quality pornos, like the ones that were made in the "golden age of porn" (late 70's - early 80's)?

To be honest, I don't know. That's MY ambition. But I know that most directors, producers and distributors don't care.

What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Anything good that has integrity but no Rap or post 1975 Heavy Metal. I like classical religious music and the great rock albums of the end 60's, early 70's years. Exile on Main Street by the Stones is probably my favorite album of all times.

What hobbies do you have when you are not working?

I usually always work. Sorry.

Do you have a steady relationship at the time?

Strange question... why do you ask?

We like to show our readers that people in the porn industry are real people, that they have real lives, and real relationships. This question is meant to show our viewers that you can work in the adult industry and still have an intimate relationship.

Yes it is possible. Not always easy though. I am married with 2 kids.

Cape Sin
A Scene From Cape Sin

With the fact that 5 people in the adult industry have tested positive for AIDS in the last 5 months, how do you feel about Sin City's policy that no actor or actress will lose work if they request condoms be used in their scenes?

I disagree. I think that it should be the director's call and nobody else's. The HIV and AIDS concept is actually bulshit. HIV has no connection with AIDS whatsoever. Please check out: http://heal-la.org/who.html you can also get What if everything you thought you knew about aids was wrong from HEAL at 213 896 8260 or from www.amazon.com.

As that is your belief, will you compromise it at all to comply with Sin City's new policy?

I never compromise.

Can anything be done to help combat the AIDS problem in the adult industry?

If you're worried about AIDS, stop fuckin' in the ass. That's how it's caught!

You obviously feel strongly about this, but I am sure there is a very large faction that does not agree with your assessment of the risks.

It is not that they "disagree"; it is that they "don't know."

Do you consider sexual history when choosing actors and actresses?

Never. Why should I?

It would be virtually impossible to be 100% certain that an individual is not at risk.

There is no "risk" for Christ's sake! The whole thing is a big scam to oppress the young people and make them flip out in their heads! HIV is a harmless virus that can be transmited through blood contact, hence mostly during anal sex or during intraveinous needle share. HIV rarely gets transmited through normal intercourse as normal intercourse rarely tears the mucous tissues. The point is that HIV is NOT the cause of AIDS. HIV has nothing to do with AIDS. AIDS are caused by something else. Read the book! So you can contract the HIV virus while fucking, that that will not give you AIDS. Got it? AIDS comes from another source. HIV is harmless.

What are the benefits of not wearing a condom that you feel outweigh the benefits of wearing them?

Models
A Scene From Models

I do show business. I supply fantasy for the people. Condoms do not fit into this equation.

Do you ever have problems with unprofessional actors and actresses while making movies? What are some of the most common problems encountered?

I choose my people very carefully. Before they're on board for one of my films, I make sure they're okay. Nevertheless, the two main problems that I've encountered are weight control for the girls and erection problems for the guys. Of course, the greatest problem of all is that most porno actors are actually dreadful actors; but we all know that...

Thank you for answering these questions, do you have any last word you would like to say?

Yeap! I am curently looking for new actresses. Please write to: Real Productions 2224 Maricopa Drive LA CA 90065 and send photos. Thanks!
