The XRCO (X-Rated Critic's Organization) awards are given away each year to celebrate the best in adult video that has been produced. The XRCO was set up in direct contradiction to the AVN awards, since the 
AVN awards are biased and the awards can be bought. The XRCO wanted to have an awards program that was honest, and honestly reflected what the critic's believed were the best adult performances of the year.
This Wicked Video release features the XRCO awards for 1998, which means they are for the best performances of 1997. In this video you will see all the big named stars of the adult industry, Chloe, Serenity, Juli Ashton, Tom Byron, Missy, Mickey G., Nina Hartley, Nikita, etc. This video is a great way to see your favorite stars as normal people...with their clothes on.
The video actually starts out with an interview segment where Serenity and Juli Ashton are going around before the ceremony starts and talks with most of the people that are there. One person interviewed that 
was interesting to see was Tricia Deveraux, who has since tested positive for Aids and has returned to her home with her family. Another interesting point I noticed was that a lot of people attending the awards didn't even realize they were nominated until they got there.
Now on to the awards. The ceremony consists of two presenters getting up on stage and giving away four awards. It's really interesting watching these people stumble over actors and actresses names, and movie tittles, I guess it's not so easy without a script, huh. The award categories range from best all girl sex scene, to best boy/girl scene, and best actor, director, and movie of the year. Pretty basic stuff. A personal favorite here are Unchain, Chloe, won the Unsung Actress Of The Year award, and she deserves it. Missy, Chloe, Ruby, and Mickey G. won for best group sex scene for Psycho Sexuals on Evil Angel Productions. Tom Byron picked up a couple of awards as well for his outstanding work this year. John Leslie won for Director Of The Year. Bad Wives, for Vivid, won Picture Of The Year.
After they announce each award, a scene from the movie is show to the viewers. I must admit, usually I don't agree with critic's, and most of the time critics don't know shit, but each one of these scenes is terrific. Not a dud in the bunch, which you would expect since they are winning awards. I really enjoyed the scenes from Vivid's movie of the year Bad Wives a lot, this looks like a movie filmed in the old school vein. I've gotta get my hands on that one. I have also fallen in love with Nikita, a beautiful Russian woman that I had not had the pleasure of seeing until this video, although she did win Female Performer Of The Year.
XRCO Awards '98: The Movie is a great video for someone who wants to become more familiar with who's who in the adult industry, someone who wants to see a behind-the-scenes look at the industry, or someone who just wants to see a bunch of really great sex scenes and bust a nut.
