P: Great then let's begin. How did you get into the business?
Randy West: Long story here... did some magazine layouts (Playgirl, Penthouse, High Society). Magazine editor asked if I wanted to try doing porno... I was curious and agreed.
P: How old were you?
R: I was 30
P: Really... that's interesting. I would have figured younger.
R: Thanks, but it's the truth.
P: Do you feel that your life is better or worse because of your choice to do porn for a living?
R: I would definitely say it has been a plus .. Been around the world, met a lot of great people and had a lot of great sex... and for this I'm now a legend in my own pants! (laugh)
A: You are probably a legend in a number of women's pants as well...
P: True, true.
R: I honestly can't tell you if it is better or worse, as it is a lifestyle I've led for the past 20 years.
P: Have you given up anything for it?
R: Interesting question... yeah I would say a little bit of my social life, but nothing worth giving-up the business for.

R: (laugh) Never really wanted that anyway, but if it were to happen I'd be very content. Although the 1/2 child may be a bit too much for me.
P: It might be interesting. How has the business changed since you started? Is it for better or worse?
R: Business has generally changed for the better, although when I first started it was a bit more personal. Everyone knew each other back then as opposed to today, but again I'm not going anywhere because of it. The amount of new girls to the business is a definite plus, especially for what I'm producing.
P:Do you think that the quality of the porn movies made today is as good as the quality of porn movies made in the in the "golden-age" of porn (mid 70's - early 80's)?
R: In general the "features" aren't as good, although there are a few exceptions... but the 'gonzo' and 'pro-am' genre has opened a lot of new doors and I happen to walk through them with the "UP and CUMMERS" series, and things have been going well ever since.
P: Do you feel there are any actresses today that hold up to the greats like Amber Lynn, Ginger Lynn, Honey Wilder?
R: Jenna Jameson & Ashlyn Gere are the two that come to mind.
A: Jenna Fine comes to mind for me as well.
R: Again, you have to remember that industry was much smaller in the days of Ginger & Amber.
P: That is true, but nowadays it seems that there are so many girls that none really stand out. Except for a select few.
R: Well, it's difficult to highlight only one or two new girls, especially when they come into this industry in such great numbers.

P: When you began, I remember you were mainly cast as the "good-looking guy".
R: And now I'm cast as the good-looking old guy. (giggle) Although these days I rarly work for other production companies as I'm way too busy working on my own projects.
P: For example the movie The Dancers.
R: "The Dancers" was a lot of fun & a good flick .. It was first movie primarily geared towards women.
P: I would agree with that. It was funny to see you looking in the mirror and fixing your hair.
R: Yeah, that was a little touch I added and it played-out well on camera. Got to have FUN in my work! I ad-libbed a lot of my own dialogue & shtick.

P: How did you hook up with Ed Powers and join the Nasty Brothers?
R: He (Ed) always wanted me to get involved, so I tried it and had some fun and that inspired me to do my own version. As alike as my stuff is to Ed's, it's still very unique. Different personalities.
